FAQs

Membership

Q:

Why join CHESS?

A:

Being a member of the Christian Home Educators of Sulphur Springs (CHESS) provides a supportive and encouraging community for homeschooling families. There are several opportunities to take part in competitive sports, classes in our parent-led Co-op, theater group participation (both on stage and behind the scenes), and fun field trips through-out the year. Our organization is thriving because of families that want to serve other like-minded families and enjoy watching our kids thrive!

Q:

What does "parked" mean?

A:

It means your membership fee has not been paid or your family profile is incomplete. Until either of those issues are resolved, you won't have access to the membership side of the website. If you think you've been mistakenly "parked" please reach out to the Board and we will help resolve the issue.

Co-op Classes

Q:

What is a Co-op?

A:

A homeschooling Co-op is an organized gathering where families come together in a classroom setting to educate their children. Once a member of CHESS, families can sign-up to participate in our Co-op classes. These classes are led by parents and cover a wide variety of academic subjects. The co-op also provides opportunities for social interaction and activities. Children ranging from nursery to high school age can participate, but a parent must be present with their child(ren).
